This time, the BMW Blog. Those crazy fanboys passionate BMW enthusiasts say that sources inside BMW talked about how the Z4, will morph into a whole Z line of cars, with Z1, Z3 and Z5.

Kinja'd!!!

They also said that the Z3 will share its bones with the next Toyota 86(meaning that either Subaru is out, or we have an automotive threesome).

Kinja'd!!!

The Z1 on the other hand, will ride on the BMW-Mini FWD platform, so boo. Also, don't hope for a return of the awesome Star Wars doors, they're dead.

Kinja'd!!!

Last but not least, the Z5 will share lightweight parts and platforms with the next Toyota Supra.

I think it's supposed to be the new supra which is apparently going to be based on the new z4 platform

I'm going to stop them right here before there are more choices for BMW Z cars than there are choices at my favorite restaurant.

Hmm. Interesting. I thought the FT1 was closer to our Supra replacement and had its own underpinnings. I have to say, I like this front end much more. The FT1 schnoz is cool from some angles, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of that aspect of the concept.

They also talked about a Z7 and Z9, in the past.

Kinja'd!!!

Well, I guess BMW drivers, do get discounts on drugs, so that's an explanation.

IDK, I don't doubt it with the way things are going. Also, this is apparently happening.

I think this new platform is really flexible and probably be used for other cars in both companies portfolios (think gs300, soarer, supra or volkswagen and what they do with the basic golf platform)

I know about that for a week, now.

It's using technology developed based on Toyota expertise and data.

Anyways, if anything, it will be used in a limited run i8S first, rather than in a largely produced car, like the upcoming Z.

meaning that either Subaru is out

This is actually a possibility.

According to an interview with Tetsuya Tada:

"Maybe, but this is not decided at the moment," Tada said when asked if Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries, would remain involved in the development of the 86.

When quizzed on whether BMW could take over its role in the partnership, he said: "That is one possibility."

The Z9 would be a good stablemate to the M9 sedan.

Seeing as the Z4 is one of the worst selling cars in the US (like 2k a year) it's hard to imagine BMW would want 3 more versions of it.
